Making a Bratz Cake
Birthday parties are occasions that bring joy to people around the world. Children in particular look forward to their birthdays every year with great anticipation. But what makes a birthday memorable? Well, for some it is the gifts that are given, or a special event, like a trip to an amusement park. But for many birthdays, it is something simpler, like the cake. A good birthday cake can be the key to building a strong memory for a child, particularly if the cake fits into a theme that is of interest to the child. For a daughter, for instance, you can make a Bratz cake. Making a Bratz cake can be simple or complex, depending on how you go about it, but you can be sure that however it is done, it will leave an impression on your daughter.
Obviously, the kind of cake you will be making, and what type of frosting you will use, is entirely dependant on the preferences of your child. Keep in mind when you are making the frosting, though, that a Bratz cake should reflect the stylish and fun nature of the Bratz world. This means that going for a girlish color in the frosting is a good idea, but be careful when you are designing the cake not to make it seem too terribly little-kiddish (unless, of course, your daughter is still in the little kid range.) One of the major points of the Bratz world is a kind of high school era 'girl power' theme, so if it seems like the cake is geared toward too young an audience, it may take away from the effect for your child.
Exactly what style you use can vary. If you want a simple one-layer cake, you may want to put a little extra work into the presentation. You can find Bratz figurines for use on cakes at some party supply stores, as well as over the internet. You can also find other Bratz cake supplies, such as plastic 'cameos' of the Bratz characters that you can place on your cake, or even overlays of pictures that you can lay on top of the cake and remove when you are ready to eat it.
If you do use multiple layers, try making the top layer of your Bratz cake about an inch smaller than the bottom layer. Use the same color of frosting, but tint the top layer to be a different shade. Then, use a pastry bag with a tip that is designed for shaping frosting (or, you can buy cans of frosting that have special tips for this purpose) to trim the cake with frosting frills. Finally, set up Bratz figurines on each layer, giving it the effect of a Bratz cake fashion show. Finally, use the plastic cameos along the sides of the cake for a finishing touch. This will be sure to thrill your daughter, as well as taste great. After all, many of the best memories in life are made with food, and this memory will definitely be a good one.
