Bratz Boyz Enter the Scene
Since their release in 2001, the Bratz girls have been on top of the fashion doll scene. Girls and collectors all over the world have snatched up these hip, fashion minded toys. Each Bratz doll shows a style of its own, giving the line a range that girls love. Of course, with all that range, it was only a matter of time before Bratz boyz came into the picture. Boys buying Bratz dolls, you might ask? Not likely (not to say that it is inherently wrong for boys to play with Bratz dolls, simply that it is not common.) But boys being Bratz dolls, now there is an idea. So, in the fall of 2002, the first Bratz boyz hit the shelves of toy stores everywhere.
Camron and Dylan were the first two Bratz boyz to hit the scene, each doll coming with two outfits, as well as a number of accessories. Each doll also came with a poster, showcasing their personal symbol that worked in their nicknames. Camron is nicknamed "The Blaze" and Dylan is "The Fox." These first two dolls were met with great success, which led to a second release in the spring of 2003 that gave borth boys a fashion update.
It was not until later that year, though, that the collection was overhauled, making changes in the appearance of the two existing boys as well as adding two new friends as mart of the Nu-Cool collection, Eitan "The Dragon" and Koby "The Panther." A third addition to the Bratz boys in 2003 was Cade, in the Motercycle Style collection, but he would not become a member of the main line of boys, or earn his nickname as "The Viper" until he returned at the end of 2003 with some design changes. 2003 also saw the release of the Formal Funk Collection that was a limited edition collection that put the boys in formal party attire, although each doll also came with a more casual outfit. In the Winter of 2003, the Sun Kissed Summer collection came out, bringing Cade back, along with all the other boys, and taking them into the surfer scene.
The Funk Out! Collection was released early in 2004, making some changes to the boys' looks, mostly by altering their hairstyles. This led to a number of different collections taking the Bratz boyz through various settings. Flashback Fever gave the boys a chance to show their styles in the eras of the 60's, 70's and 80's. Tokyo-a-go-go brought Camron, Dylan, and Eitan to the nightlife of Japan, with all the styles to match. All five boys were in the Winter Wonderland collection, showing off their cold-weather gear. Finally, Dylan, Eitan, Camron, and Koby were all included in the Secret Date line, with the newest of the Bratz boyz, Bryce. Since 2004, the boys have appeared in a few other collections, including the Rock It collection, and their entry to the Bratz Twiins line, Alek and Zack. There is no doubt that, as the Bratz line continues to grow, these boys will grow right along with them.
